Birth Doula Team FAQ's + Answers
Well, the news is officially out! And if you aren’t sure what I’m referring to, then I’ll spill the beans here too - I have decided to join forces with another amazing doula, Nicky Quick!
I have been wanting to partner with another doula for a while, and after being approached by Nicky - I knew that this was a step in the right direction for me and my business! Nicky is an incredible businesswoman and owns her own doula agency, so together with my creativity and fresh perspective in the birth world, we are going to be a force to be reckoned with! If you’d like to get to know Nicky a little bit more, head on over to the “About” section of my website.
I have received some questions regarding our team and what it will entail. Here are some of my most frequently asked questions:
-Why did you guys decide to create a Birth Doula Team?
Nicky and I have both been working as individual birth doulas, but have been hesitant to take on more solo clients due to the fact that we both have children and other responsibilities (Nicky works a Postpartum Doula and I work as a Montessori Guide.)
By working as a team, we feel we can confidently support more families knowing we have one another's back in the event one of us gets sick, has a family emergency, or wants to go out of town.
-What are the benefits of hiring a Birth Doula Team?
Working as a team has many benefits. Our clients will benefit from having the knowledge and perspectives of two certified, experienced doulas. Our clients will also acquire access to double the community resources. And, if a client's labor is particularly long, or happens to interrupt a night of sleep, Nicky and I have the option of switching places so that the doula who needs rest is able to do so, while the other can take her place.
-Will you and Nicky share on-call time?
Yes! This is one of the many perks of having a partner. Our clients will never have to worry about the uncertainty surrounding the use of a backup doula that they have never met before.
We will provide our clients with an updated calendar of our shared on-call days to ensure that they know who to call when they are in labor.
-Will you both attend all of the prenatal and postpartum meetings?
Nicky and I will both attend the free initial consultation, as well as the two prenatal meetings. In doing so, we will both be on the same page regarding our client's birth wishes.
If Nicky is on-call on the day a client goes into labor, she will attend the birth (& vice versa!) Whoever attends the birth will attend the postpartum meeting within one week of the birth.
-What does your package include?
1 Free Initial Consultation (In-Person or Virtual)
2 Prenatal Meetings (Birth Planning & Labor Preparation)
12 Hours of In-Person Birth Support
1 In-Home Postpartum Visit
I hope the answers to these questions help you get a better understanding of our birth doula team and what it entails! If you have any questions at all, leave a comment below or write me a message on the Contact page!
